The Experience & Facts – Stockholm City Hall
Stockholm City Hall is one of Sweden’s most recognisable landmarks and a masterpiece of National Romantic architecture. Completed in 1923 and designed by architect Ragnar Östberg, the building continues to serve as the workplace of Stockholm’s politicians and civil servants — just as it has for more than a century.
Beyond its civic function, City Hall is internationally renowned for its ceremonial halls and cultural significance. Each year on 10 December, the Nobel Banquet is held in the famous Blue Hall, followed by the Nobel Ball in the Golden Hall, whose shimmering mosaics depict scenes from Swedish history. While the Nobel Prize Award Ceremony itself takes place elsewhere, City Hall remains the heart of the Nobel celebrations.
The Blue Hall also houses one of the largest pipe organs in Scandinavia, featuring approximately 10,000 pipes and 135 stops, further underscoring the building’s architectural and cultural importance.
During this twohour private tour, you will travel to City Hall in the comfort of one of our private vehicles, accommodating up to seven passengers. Pickup is arranged from your chosen location, and the journey itself becomes part of the experience. Your knowledgeable local driverguide shares insights, historical context and anecdotes as you pass through different parts of Stockholm on the way to the City Hall.
