The Experience & Facts – The Royal Palace

The Royal Palace of Stockholm is the official residence of the Swedish King and one of the largest royal palaces in Europe. Spanning approximately 42,000 square metres and comprising more than 600 rooms, the palace stands as a central symbol of Swedish monarchy, statehood and history.

Following the devastating fire of 1697 that destroyed the former palace Tre Kronor, the Royal Palace was rebuilt over a period of 57 years. Construction was delayed by the Great Northern War (1700–1721), involving SaxonyPoland, Denmark and Russia. Reconstruction resumed in 1727, and King Adolf Fredrik and Queen Lovisa Ulrika moved into the completed palace in 1754.

During this twohour private tour, you will travel to the Royal Palace in one of our comfortable private vehicles, accommodating up to seven passengers. Pickup is arranged from your chosen location, and the journey itself becomes part of the experience as your local driverguide shares insights, historical context and personal anecdotes during a scenic drive through Stockholm.

At the palace, guests have the opportunity to explore its many significant areas, gaining a deeper understanding of Sweden’s royal heritage, architecture and ceremonial traditions.

Flexible tour options

This tour can be combined with other experiences to create extended programmes of 4, 6 or 8 hours, with discounted rates applied to each additional hour.

Vehicle options

  • Private vehicles with 3 to 8 seats
  • Vehicles with 5 seats plus space for up to 2 standardsize wheelchairs

For larger groups or guests with specific requirements, we are happy to design a tailored solution. Please contact us to discuss your needs.

Accessibility information

For larger groups where several guests use wheelchairs, electric scooters or require elevator access between floors, we do not recommend an interior visit to the Royal Palace. The building contains only two small and slow elevators located in different areas, which can significantly limit accessibility and comfort during the visit.

Important information

If your cruise arrives at Nynäshamn, please note that an additional travel time of approximately two hours is required due to the distance between Nynäshamn and central Stockholm. We recommend contacting us in advance so we can assist with planning and provide accurate pricing for tours starting from Nynäshamn.
